Murrells-Inlet is a historic fishing village located 10 miles south of Myrtle Beach, and split between two counties - Georgetown and Horry. A quaint town, a nature lover's paradise, "the Seafood Capital of South Carolina" - they all describe this great little town where fishing boats and seafood restaurants almost outnumber the residents. Murrells Inlet also offers great views of the salt marshes inside the inlet, canoeing and kayaking along the picturesque creek, fishing boat charters, parasailing, biking, jet skiing, dolphin and Eco-tours and more. Plus, it's just a nice place to sit back and relax, go antique shopping or sample the food at one of the tremendous seafood restaurants (the town does have other kinds of restaurants, as well, such as Chinese, Italian, steakhouses, etc.) Murrells Inlet is also known for its bars, many of which feature live music and entertainment on a regular basis. Brookgreen Gardens is located here, one of the largest outdoor sculpture gardens in the world, and Huntington Beach State Park offers an undeveloped beach, hiking trails, a nature center, marshland and even a stone castle. A prestigious arts and crafts festival is held at the castle each September and attracts thousands of visitors. Murrells Inlet is also host to the annual "Blessing of the Inlet," and numerous other special events like golf tournaments, boat parades, arts and crafts festivals and fish fries.

Murrells Inlet Weather & Climate

Central South Carolina, along the coast, , has a humid subtropical climate. Precipitation is abundant throughout the year, but summer is the wettest season. Thunderstorms are possible in the spring and summer. Winters are short with occasional rain. Snow flurries are possible in the winter, but rare, with less than an inch accumulation. On average, it's more common for most areas along the coast to receive no measurable snowfall. The South Carolina coast is prone to tropical cyclones and hurricanes, with the annual hurricane season running June through November. Tornadoes are also a threat to the state. Summers can be very hot and humid, with daytime highs 90 degrees or above and lows in the 70s.
