Ocean-Lakes Family Campground is located on the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach. Don't be mislead by the name "campground." Ocean Lakes does indeed have camping, but it's actually a five-star, four-season resort and an excellent place for the whole family. Ocean Lakes Family Campground has 893 campsites for both tents and campers, and also offers 300 rental sites (homes and trailers,) in all sizes and price ranges. The activities here are endless and there is 24-hour security, so you never have to worry about your safety. Ocean Lakes has an onsite grocery store, an ice cream parlor, an Olympic-size outdoor pool and an indoor heated pool, picnic areas, a nature center, a mile of Atlantic Ocean beachfront, plus a water play area for children with fountains and squirt guns and two playgrounds. In short - it's one of the best places in the Myrtle Beach area for families with small children. The recreation building offers scheduled activities for young and old, like bingo, ceramics and arts and crafts, and there is an arcade on site with over 80 games. Many people use golf carts to cruise around Ocean Lakes, and if you don't have your own, there are daily and weekly rentals available. Bicycling is another great way to explore Ocean Lakes, which features 29 miles of paved roads. Ocean Lakes Family Campground is all about convenience and good family fun. Nearby Myrtle Beach, of course, offers 60 miles of beautiful beach, championship golf, fine dining, shopping and nightlife.

Ocean Lakes Weather & Climate

Northeastern South Carolina ,in the coastal plain, has terrain that is mostly flat, and the average elevation is 140 feet above sea level. The combination of low elevation, relatively low latitude and warm Gulf stream from the Atlantic Ocean, combines to create a climate with warm, humid summers and short, mild winters. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in the summer and sometimes in the autumn. Hail and damaging winds often occur along with the summer thunderstorms. Tornadoes are uncommon unless a tropical cyclone is present. Precipitation is abundant throughout the entire year, and the coastline tends to have a slightly wetter summer. Hurricanes are a threat along the coast of South Carolina with the typical season running June through November. However, plenty of warning is generally given for these types of storms.
