Fripp-Island
is located near the southern tip of South Carolina, about midway between Charleston and Savannah, Georgia. Part of South Carolina's "Low Country," Fripp Island is a private island that offers visitors miles of uncrowded beaches, seaside pools, three championship golf courses, tennis courts, trails for hiking, biking or roller blading, a deep water marina and much more. A new seaside waterpark features a children's pool with slides and a giant frog fountain and there are also children's camps and nature programs on Fripp Island. The favored way to get around the island is by golf cart, which can be rented by the day or week. Golf Digest has rated Fripp Island Resort's Ocean Creek Golf Course a "4.5 Star" and the Ocean Point Golf Links a "4 Star." Both offer wonderful layouts with stunning views, first class service, PGA instruction and well-stocked Pro Shops. There are no hotels or motels on Fripp Island but many vacation rentals are available, including oceanfront condominiums, beach houses and luxurious villas. Fripp Island offers sophisticated amenities in an environment away from the noise, traffic and crowds. One visit and you'll discover why it's called one of South Carolina's "best kept secrets." The historic city of Beaufort is just 19 miles from Fripp Island and it's also near Hilton Head and Kiawah Islands.

Southeast South Carolina, along the coast , has a subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Winters are short and very mild, with less than an inch of measurable snowfall per year. Occasional rain is likely in winter, with freezing rain a possibility, but more likely inland. Precipitation is abundant all year long, with thunderstorms in spring and summer. The South Carolina coast is prone to tropical cyclones and hurricanes, with the annual hurricane season running June through November. The most notable hurricane was Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Warning is generally given to residents prior to hurricanes, giving them plenty of time to prepare.
