Wild-Dunes
is a gated resort community located on the northern tip of the Isle of Palms, a barrier island off the coast of South Carolina. This prestigious resort contains 1,600 acres of gorgeous oceanfront property that includes 350 villas and luxurious homes, as well as the Diamond Boardwalk Inn, which offers 93 guestrooms and luxury suites. The island is thick with tropical vegetation and has wide, secluded beaches. Biking and jogging/walking trails are found throughout the resort, and Wild Dunes is home to two of the finest golf courses in the Southeast, designed by Tom Fazio. In 1988 GOLF Magazine awarded Wild Dunes The Gold Medal, which placed it among the top 12 golf resorts in America. Wild Dunes is also a world renowned tennis resort with top-ten ranked courts and it's home to a full-service Yacht Harbor. Two miles of pristine beach are available for swimming, or if you prefer, dozens of swimming pools are located within the resort. The Island Adventures Family Recreation program is ranked in the top 5 in the country. Kids who participate in the program can enjoy kayaking, swimming, biking and even nature exploration. A state-of-the-art fitness center at Wild Dunes offers programs such as Pilates and Yoga. Although many that come to Wild Dunes never leave the island during their stay, others enjoy a day trip to nearby Charleston. This historic city offers grand plantations, horse-drawn carriages on cobblestone streets, flickering gas lamps, art galleries, boutiques and exquisite dining adventures - just twenty minutes from Wild Dunes on the Isle of Palms.

Mid-point, along the coastline of South Carolina, has a humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and humid and winters are mild. The area receives a significant amount of rainfall year-round. Summer is the wettest season with almost half the annual precipitation occurring during this time. Thunderstorms are possible in the spring and summer. Winters are short with occasional rain. Snow flurries are possible in the winter, but rare. Hurricanes are a major threat to this area during the summer and early fall. The most notable one in recent history was Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Plenty of warning is generally given to residents prior to hurricanes, giving them time to prepare.
